"Romeo and Juliet" is so famous almost everyone has heard of it or its author, William Shakespeare. Tell me what you already know about the play without looking up any information! What do you know about Shakespeare? Have you heard or seen any scenes of the play on a TV show, movie, or heard any mention of it or Shakespeare in a song? Give as many examples as you can from pop culture including advertising, events, or things. Do you know anything about Shakespeare's appearance or any other plays that were written by him?

There is some song by Taylor Swift about it, and thats all I know. I know something else but it would spoil the story for others.
ReplyDeleteI know it is a lot of parodies about it it is one of the best known stories with one of the best known author. The story ends in a darker idea. And it is one of the best well known love stories in the world.

ReplyDeleteRomeo and Juliet is a love story. Shakespeare is pretty much plays about love stories. I have seen a couple of movies about the story of Romeo and Juliet. Gnomeo and Juliet is about gnomes who fall in love throughout the movie.

It's a story about a forbidden love between a girl and a boy. I've heard about it in many songs and has many movie knockoffs, like Gnomeo and Juliet. The literature piece ends tragically.

I've never seen any movie or heard any music about shakespeare. Other shakespeare plays I have heard of is Julius Caesar. I don't recall of reading any of his books or plays but I have heard of him and his plays.

I've seen a picture of him, but it was awhile ago and I don't remember it much. I know about a few basic plays he has written, like Hamlet, but other than that not really.

ReplyDeleteThere are only a few things I know about the play or William Shakespeare. I know that he wrote A Mid-summer Night's Dream which we read in 8th grade. I also know that Romeo and Juliet were not supposed to love each other. The only other thing I know is that both dies at the end.
ReplyDeleteI know a few things about Romeo and Juliet. For one, Romeo and Juliet were in love. Juliet faked her death, and Romeo thought she was dead. He was so sad that he killed himself because he thought he couldn't live without her. When she found out that he died for her, she killed herself...again.

We read A Midnight Summers Dream last year in English, but that is the only Shakespeare book I have ever read. I don't know a whole lot about Shakespeare, but I would like to learn more. I hope that I enjoy this book and can learn more from it.

All I really know is that Romeo and Juliet were in love and that they weren't allowed to be in love but they were anyways (I think). Also, I know that Juliet like was in a really deep sleep and Romeo thought that she was dead so he killed himself so when Juliet woke up and saw him dead she also killed herself. I do not know that much about Romeo and Juliet or William Shakespeare.

He is one of the most alluded to people ever. He is alluded to in many songs, books, and movies. He is mostly famous for his plays like Hamlet, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Julius Caesar, and Macbeth.
ReplyDeleteOne of the major things that I know about Romeo and Juliet is that it is a major love story that takes a turn for the worst. It's also mentioned in a song by Taylor Swift. In 8th grade, the Advanced English class read A Midsummer's Night Dream, which is another story by Shakespeare.

ReplyDeleteRomeo and Juliet were two young people in love with each other. They were forbidden to see each other. Of course like most romances they could not stand not seeing each other. So, at the end of the story they died for each other when they did not have to. I do not know very much about Shakespeare at all; however, I do know of A Midsummer's Night Dream.

The main conflict is that Their families hate each other. I also know that at the end of the story they commit suicide. There is also the obvious that the play is written by Shakespeare.

I also know that Romeo kills himself because he thinks she is dead. William Shakespeare is the author so of course the wording of the story is very old and hard to understand for people my age.

Then Romeo comes home and the I believe that he killed himself. I think that he ate poison berries. I know that Shakespeare has written many plays. ReplyDeleteI know a little about Romeo and Juliet. However, most of it is just what I've heard from people talking about it. I think that I once heard that the story took place when the two of them were 13 years old. The two of them fell in love and tragically died later on in the story. I've read another story by William Shakespeare called "A Midsummer Night's Dream" last year and am excited to read another story by the same author.
ReplyDeleteI have heard about Romeo and Juliet, however; I do not know have a lot of knowledge about what actually happens in the story. I know that there are two characters, Romeo and Juliet, and they fall in love but tragically die. I do know a little more about William Shakespeare. In English last year, the honors class read A Midsummer Night's Dream written by Shakespeare. I know from reading that play, the William writes in a very "old" fashion and it is a little harder to read his work. Once I understood what was going on, I, overall, liked Shakespeare's writings. Besides that play, I have not read anything else by William, but I have heard of him and some of his books.

It is a love story. I have heard rumors *SPOILER ALERT* that they both commit suicide. Shakespeare write a lot of very popular things. ReplyDeleteI know many things about Romeo and Juliet through movies, plays, and youtube videos. The movies that references Romeo and Juliet would be called Warm Bodies and Gnome and Juliet, because both of these movies have very similar story lines as Romeo and Juliet. The play that references Romeo and Juliet was Just Another High School Play that I performed in last spring for school, because one of the scenes was all about Romeo and Juliet and I was the narrator for that scene. The youtube video I have seen that references Romeo and Juliet was from Studio C, and they make a joke about when Romeo calls up to Juliet in her balcony. From these references, I know that Romeo and Juliet are of different groups and are forbidden to see each other and love each other. Even though they forbidden to see each other, they sneak off with each other anyways. Juliet's father is wanting her to marry someone else, but Juliet doesn't want to so she fakes her death, so she will be able to be with Romeo. Romeo ends up finding her and thinks she is dead so he kills himself. Juliet wakes up and sees Romeo, so she ends up killing herself since Romeo is dead.

We have already read a Midnight Summer Dream in eighth grade, so we have already read a play by Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet is one of the most well known love story. William Shakespeare is a well known poet and has wrote many plays. There are many movies referencing Romeo and Juliet.

ReplyDeleteI know that one of Taylor Swift's songs kind of had a Romeo and Juliet feel to it. I heard that it was a good book, but my sister said she didn't like reading it much. I'm not a love story type of person actually, but I think'll enjoy it. My grandma went to the Honeywell and saw a play that was a twist off of it called the Westside Story.

When I was little I always heard about how it was that one love story that people strived for but also didn't. "Love Story" by Taylor Swift is probably the only real connection between it. William Shakespeare I know was an amazing writer and thats all I really know about him.

I do know that William Shakespeare wrote many other great plays like "Hamlet". I also know that a lot of his plays are made into movies or dumbed down into small books. I know that William was not just a famous play writer but a poet as well. That's pretty much all I know about William Shakespeare and his works.

I know that Romeo and Juliet were in love but were not allowed to be and at the end they committed suicide to be together forever or something like that. I have also watched a movie called "Gnomeo & Juliet" which was based off of the real Romeo and Juliet and it was a pretty good movie.

Their love was so strong, that they did anything to see each other. I know Shakespeare has created a lot of plays and stories. I think that most of his plays are about tragedy, such as Hamlet. I hadn't heard much about Hamlet, but I know it's a story about sadness and tragedy. I've heard Romeo and Juliet mentioned in Twilight before (One of my favorite movies).

It talked about how she was kept away from her Romeo and wasn't aloud to see him. The real story is about these two people who are enemies, but fall in love with each other. In the end Romeo thought Juliet died, so he kills himself to be with his Juliet. The ironic thing is Juliet was still alive and when she awakes to see her Romeo dead, she kills herself to be with him. The time setting was really early where they wore dresses all the time and the men fought with swords. Their speech also was weird, but only because we changed the original English speech.

In the end, they both end up dying for they cannot live without the other. I have seen the play and other versions of this story. One of the more child friendly ones would be "Gnomeo and Juliet". Taylor Swift has mentioned the story in some of her songs. I have heard of Shakespeare's other plays as well.
ReplyDeleteRomeo and Juliet is a play from the 15th/16th century written by William Shakespeare, one of the most famous playwright's in history. The character's speak in old English, using words such as "thy," "thou," and "ye." This was, of course, a time when women were only allows to wear dresses and most marry inside of their respective clans. Romeo is from another clan, meets Juliet, and they fall in love, but keep it a secret. Then things take a dark turn. The theme of Romeo and Juliet is used in many songs about people who are dating whose parents do not approve of the relationship.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about "Romeo and Juliet". I know it is a story in which a girl and boy fall in love, yet their families hate one another. Which I can imagine, if your families hate one another, then it can be a challenge to be together. Shakespeare created a lot of the slang language and words we use today. Such as: "I'm in a pickle", bedazzled, cold blooded, swagger, inaudible, etc.

Romeo and Juliet fall in love at the end when they are going to be separated they kill each other because they couldn't stand to live without one another. It has been seen in various pop culture moments as it has been mentioned in TV shows/movies/books. Most recently I can think of is The Hunger Games as Peta and Katniss pull the wool and beat the game makers at their own game. As for Shakespeare I know another play of his by the name of Hamlet.
