  1. My favorite scene in Part One of To Kill A Mockingbird is the one where Scout is at school for the first day. It's entertaining because Ms. Caroline is exasperated, and the Ewell boy is a brat, and Walter Cunningham is in a kind of funny situation. It's just entertaining to see Scout stick up for all the other kids in the class and really tick the teacher off. The last part of the chapter, where Miss Blount threatens to burn the whole room down, has one of the best lines of the whole Part One. It's just a good scene, and it's funny. This was my favorite chapter because it moved at a decent pace while still introducing us to the characters.

  2. My favorite scene is when the whole Finch family goes over to Aunt Alexandra for Christmas. I like this scene because it shows Scout's loyalty to her father when she punches her own cousin. I enjoy this scene because Uncle Jack makes a mistake, but then when he realizes it he is very apologetic and respects Scout. This scene starts welcoming a new part to the plot of the story. The plot starts becoming more about Tom Robinson's trail than about Boo Radley. Uncle Jack is a great character and is very loyal to his brother and also loves Jem and Scout to bits. He is a great character addition and makes the book more enjoyable. I also like this scene because Scout is getting a little smarter when she says that she didn't punch Francis because he was making fun of Atticus. This is a great scene and adds to the books plot and character development.

  3. My personal favorite scene in Part 1 of To Kill a Mockingbird is when Atticus Finch shoots the rabid dog running wild through Maycomb, Alabama. The intense drama and danger of a mentally insane canine running rampant through the calm little down of Maycomb is a big difference from what the quiet town is usually like. Seeing the children witness the dog, followed by the rest of the town allowed me to see how everyone in the town reacted to the crazy situation. Although seeing everyones reactions, from Sheriff Heck Tate to Calpurnia, was entertaining my favorite part in this scene is when Atticus Finch is handed the gun, and puts the mad dog out of his misery. At this point in the story, we see Atticus as a calm father who wouldn't hurt a fly. Witnessing the old lawyer pick up the weapon and kill the rabid dog with one shot is a big difference from what we are used to seeing Atticus do. Although Atticus does not seem like the hero type, this scene sure makes him look like one.

  4. My favorite scene in Part I of the book "To Kill a Mockingbird" was when it snowed in Maycomb. I enjoyed this scene because Jem and Scout took advantage of the fact that it had snowed. They were very determined to build a snowman and they gathered snow from their and Miss Maudie's yard. I also enjoyed the part where Miss Maudie, Scout, Jem, and Atticus shared a happy moment after the snowman was built. The part where Eula May called and cancelled school shocked me. It hadn't even snowed that much, and they cancelled school! I think this scene appealed to me because they made the best of what they had and it was worth it.

  5. My favorite scene so far that was in the first part of To Kill A Mockingbird was when Miss Caroline told Scout that her dad needs to stop teaching her how to read. It shocked me because now it is an awesome thing to be able to read that well at a young age. You will do well and possibly be put in advanced classes. I love how Miss Caroline thinks that she knows everything about how to teach a child to read. Atticus still taught Scout how to read, but she never let Miss Caroline know that, and I just think that is a good relationship to have with your father. You don't want to just be taught by teachers, but you want to be taught by your parents too. I would have loved to read like Scout when I was her age because it would have been a big advantage for me in school.

  6. Through out the book, To Kill a Mockingbird, the chapters start to get more and more entertaining. This is why my favorite chapter in Part I was when Jem disrespected Mrs. Dubose by destroying her flowers. His punishment was to read to Mrs. Dubose everyday for a month. Jem did not enjoy reading to her because the time he spent there ended up getting longer and longer, she criticized the way he read the books, and she was not very fun to be around. I liked this punishment because it distracted Mrs. Dubose from everything going on. In the end. I think that it taught Jem a lesson about old sickly folks.

  7. My favorite scene in Part One of To Kill A Mockingbird was when Jem, Scout, and Dill were trying to give their note to Boo Radley. The note asked if Mr. Radley would come out of his house and talk to them. They also asked him if he wanted to eat ice cream with them. They tried to use a really long stick and drop the note into his house but it wasn't long enough. No matter how far Jem tried to reach, it just wasn't long enough. Atticus caught them and he told them to stop tormenting Mr. Radley. This is my favorite scene because the kids were just trying to reach out to Boo Radley and have some fun and Atticus told them to stop. Even thought he told them many times to stop they still found new ways to incorporate him into their games.

  8. My favorite scene in Part one of the book was when Jem, Scout, and Dill went to the Radley's bak porch/door to try and get Boo to come out. So in this scene, the kids were determined to get Boo to come out, so they snuck to the back of his house to lure him out. While doing so, Mr. Radley came out and shot at them and Jem got stuck and ended up loosing his pants. This is my favorite scene because it was very mysterious, adventurous, and suspenseful. You didn't know whether or not the kids were going to get caught, lure him out, or get away. This scene appealed to me because I personally like adventure and mystery books and this scene kind of added some of those aspects into the story and I just really enjoyed ready that scene.

  9. My favorite scene of Part One of To Kill a Mockingbird was when Scout beat up her cousin for making fun of her dad. I liked how she kind of stalked him after he made fun of Atticus. When she eventually catches him and beats him up it is the funniest thing in the book so far. It appealed to me because it was really funny and the bratty kid got what he deserved. It also appealed to me because I really like the character Jack Finch. I like how he breaks up the fight and how he still has a lot to learn about children.

  11. My favorite scene in Part 1 of To Kill a Mockingbird was the summers whenever Dill would travel to Maycomb and stay with his aunt. Whenever Dill stayed with his aunt, he would always hang out with Jem and Scout, and their adventures were intriguing. During the summer, Scout and Dill formed a relationship, which made the summers more enjoyable to read about. Their relationship is like a summer romance mixed with childhood love, which makes the summers entertaining to read about. Dill was also the one to give Jem and Scout the idea to try to make Boo Radley come outside from his house, which caused many events to happen. The summer scenes Jem and Scout spent with Dill were very eventful and fascinating to read about.

  12. My favorite scene so far in To Kill a Mockingbird was when Miss Maudie's house burnt down. My favorite part from that scene was after the fire was put out and the tension started to die down when Scout realized that she had a blanket on her shoulders that she had never seen before. Jem and Scout were so engrossed in the fire that they didn't notice someone right behind them and Scout didn't even notice the weight of the blanket that was placed on her. It seems plausible that they wouldn't notice these things since they were worried about the possibility of their own house burning down. The children had been trying for a year to get Boo Radley to come out of his house and if they would have just turned around that night they would have seen him. I guess they're going to have to keep trying.

  13. My favorite scene is when the kids find the presents in the tree from Boo Radley. I like this scene because throughout the first part of the book, nothing but bad things were said about Boo. The adults were the people sharing the rumors but the kids believed them; therefore they were also scared of Boo and what they had heard about him. Later on in the story, the children began to find "presents" in a hole in a tree. One day they went to check the tree as normal and the hole had been filled in, they were disappointed. Soon after they found out that Boo was the one putting presents in the tree. This shows that Boo really was not the bad person that the adults made him sound like he was. This particular section also teaches readers how not to judge a book by its cover, which is another reason on why this section was one of my favorites.

  14. My Favorite scene in to Kill a Mockingbird in part one was when Miss. Caroline yelled at Scout and told her to tell her daddy, that he needs to stop reading to her. This was my favorite scene in part one because, Miss Caroline shouldn't be mad at Scout for knowing how to read and write at a young age, she should be happy and glad that Scout at such a young age can read and write. Scout is such a bright girl that has the opportunity and the advantages of being ahead of all the other students. Thanks to Calpurnia and Atticus, Scout is very intelligent and ahead in school. This is probably why Miss. Caroline doesn't like Scout since she already has all the knowledge of reading and writing. Miss Caroline even has a different personality because she thinks she knows everything and this is why she wants to teach those children the same. This over all was my favorite scene because Scout stood strong even though Miss Caroline said stuff to her in class.

  15. My favorite was when Scout and Jem were getting gifts inside the tree. Jem thought they should wait a day to see if it was anyone's if it was still there they would take it. Scout chewed the gum anyway even though Jem told her not too. I would have have chewed it too. The sad part was when they tried to put a thank you note in the tree but the tree had been filled with cement. Scout and Jem were trying to nice but someone had to fill the tree. Because they thought the tree was dead What would filling a tree with cement help a dead tree anyway? isn't that a waste of cement?

She gets into a little fight with Walter at school which I thought was very interesting. 18. My favorite scene from the boom was when Dill is hiding from Jem and Scout. I like it because I find it funny that Dill was so small for his age and that Jem thought that he was younger than his age. I like it how Atticus said he couldn't play football because he was old. It was also interesting that she already knew how to read, it just goes to show how smart she was. In this scene I really didn't like Miss Caroline because she was not a very good teacher and she was very rude. 21. Even though I had many favorite scenes from the book, I would say my most favorite would be the burning down of Miss Maudie's home. I know that may seem horrible but it was my favorite scene because the whole town came together to help another out, even some neighboring towns came. Not only that but Boo stuck a blanket over Scouts shoulders, which showed and proved that he was not stuffed up the chimney and that he did come out every now and then. It also showed that he definitely was not some crazy killer and that he was watching them as they were watching him. I honestly also would've thought that the kids would've calmed down with the obsession over Boo Radley but it only fueled it. Even though there were many parts that I loved in part 1, this one was definitely the best.

  23. My favorite part so far in To Kill a Mockingbird was chapter 10. I liked this chapter because there was a lot of action and you never knew what was going to happen next. In this chapter Jem and Scout spotted a "mad dog" coming towards town. They ran back to the house to tell Calpurnia, she then called Atticus to ask him what to do. She did as he had said and warned to town and got the sheriff. Atticus and the sheriff went out to find the dog and when they found him and felt that the time was right they shot him. The sheriff thought it was a one shot job and handed the gun over to Atticus, he was hesitant but agreed. Jem and Scout were amazed seeing their father shoot as he did, they had no idea that he was a marksmen.

I like this scene because it was exciting and had a little bit of mystery to it. In the end of the scene it was found out that while Jem and Scout were watching the house Boo Radley put a blanket on Scout and she did not notice. 25. My favorite scene in the first part of the book was when the rabid dog showed it. That dog was well known in town and people could easily recognize that he was not acting right. Calpurnia had great instincts for keeping the kids inside and calling Eula May and letting her know about it. This part of the book was very surprising because you learned a little more about Atticus as he shot the dog almost perfectly. Atticus shooting the dog not only impressed his children but also added a bit more mystery to his character. They also included the cleanup of the corpse which was an interesting thing to include even though it wasn't all that necessary.

  26. My favorite part of the book was the scene when Scout first discovered the gum in the Radleys' tree. She got so excited over something that many people today take for granted. She didn't even think about the stories about the Radleys (even though they turned out not to be very accurate). She even convinced Jem that the Radleys weren't that bad and that they were actually good people. Even Jem (who was spreading a lot of the rumors) felt bad when the tree was plugged up. I think this part really highlighted Scout's innocence (which is one of the main points of these types of stories).

  27. My favorite part in the book so far was the scene when the rabid dog came in and was a threat to everyone. Calpurnia was running around like a chicken with its head cut off, warning everyone to get inside because of this dog. I can only imagine what this dog felt like. I bet it was clueless of its surroundings and only wanted to find somewhere to figure out what was happening. This scene was very exciting, because we got to figure out more about Atticus's past. He seems very mature to his kids, and they are astonished when they find out that he can shoot the dog with no flaws; also that his nick name as a child was one-shot finch. This adds mystery to what his childhood was like.

  28. My favorite scene was when Miss Maudie's house was on fire. Not saying I liked someone's house burning to the ground, but how the people came together and try and help. From what I remember, a firetruck was pushed 60 miles one way to try and put the fire out. The people all came out of their houses even though it was freezing to try and help save her house/possessions. Also, Arthur (Boo) Radley had came out of his house and put a blanket on Scout. I found that to be showing as much kindness as the people helping Miss Maudie.

  29. What was your favorite scene of the novel? My favorite scene of the novel was when Scout first goes to school. It was my favorite scene because Scout have many obstacles to overcome. An example of an obstacle she had to overcome was making through the day without infuriating Miss Caroline. The scene just just jumped out to me because it would be a horror to go trough for your first day of school. In conclusion this scene was action filled and was funny to look back to reflect with your first day experience before.

  30. My favorite scene in Part I of "To Kill a Mockingbird" was when Dill, Jem, and Scout went into the backyard of the Radley's to look through a shutter. This was my favorite scene because of everything that happened with Mr. Radley coming out with a gun shooting it up in the air to scare Dill, Jem, and Scout away. While trying to get away Jem got his pants stuck on a fence at the Radley's so he had to go back and get them. When he went back to get them he found that his pants were mended and folded which scared him even more. Thats why when Dill, Scout, and Jem going into the Radley's backyard was my favorite part. There was so much going on in that scene.

  32. My favorite part of the book so far was the scene when the rabid dog came in. Everybody knew the dog and some people had seen that something had happened to the dog. Calpurnia did a very good job of warning the townspeople and keeping the children inside. This scene was very exciting and interesting. I think it was exciting because this scene had a lot of action to it. It also was very interesting because I would not have expected Atticus, out of all people, to have a great shot like he has. I also liked this scene because it brought more of Atticus's character into the book. Atticus is probably one of my favorite characters, so it was nice to know a little more about him.

  33. My favorite part of scene one is when Atticus, Jem, and Scout are walking past their neighbors house and she says hi to Scout and Scout doesn't reply back the way she want her to. She then called Scout ugly and I just thought it was funny that an old lady would call a little girl ugly. Only because Scout didn't say hi back to her the way she should have and been proper about it. This was my favorite scene because usually when I think of old people I think of them being nice and polite about things.

  34. My favorite scene in the in part 1 of Kill a Mockingbird was when Jem was telling dill about Boo Radley. It was interesting because at the beginning of the book you didn’t know much about Boo. Jem gave you a lot of detail about what he looked like but you didn’t know what he really looked like. It was interesting to hear why he had to stay in the house. When I was reading thus scene I wanted to know what he was saying was actually true. That is why this is my favorite scene in Part 1.

  35. What was my favorite part? My favorite part was when scout goes to school. That is my favorite part because she gets in trouble for knowing how to read. And she gets enterable for calling the other boy pore and saying that they don't have any money. My other favorite part is when scout is beating up the pore kid for getting her intuble.

  36. What was my favorite part? I thought that when they walked past Mrs.Dubose and scout said hi and Mrs.Dubose started yelling at her. I thought that this was funny because this seems like something that my grandma would have done. I also like when Jem is telling Dill about Boo. I thought that it was funny how he was describing him and how much Dill actual believed him. That is what i thought was funny in the First part of the book.

  37. My favorite scene in part 1 of To Kill A Mockingbird is when Scout goes to school and has many obstacles to go through, but one of them was when she gets in trouble with Miss Caroline for knowing how to read. It is my favorite part because I think that you should be able to learn things out of school, and because Miss Caroline seems to think that it is a bad thing to know how to read early. Students should be able to learn freely and if they know something before the teacher teaches it than that is a good thing.

  38. My favorite scene in Part One of To Kill A Mockingbird is in chapter six when Dill, Jem, and Scout go to Boo Radley's late at night to see him through the window. When they look in the window they see nothing, but then a shadow of a man appears and they think they are goners. When the shadow disappears they take off running and Jem loses his pants in the fence. When they are about home they find the neighborhood talking to Nathan Radley about how he had shot at a Negro intruder. When they got to the group Atticus noticed that Jem’s pants were missing and asked him about it. Jem and Dill made up accuses and Atticus told them to get Jem’s pants back. Later that night Jem received his pants.

Personally, I found this scene amusing and comical. Reading about how Jem lost his pants was very entertaining. I believe that Mr. Radley truly knew that Jem was the person he shot at, but he wanted to see if Jem would admit to it. This scene made me nervous for Scout, Jem, and Dill, because I didn’t know how they would be able to talk their way out of how Jem lost his pants.

  39. My favorite scene in To Kill a Mockingbird was the scene where Jem and Scout go to church with Calpurnia. When they arrive, a black woman, who isn’t very happy that Cal brought Jem and Scout along, greets them. This makes Jem and Scout very uncomfortable and they begin to feel unwelcomed, then the woman goes off and everyone goes into the church. Scout notices that they don't use hymnbooks and that the place is very shabby, unlike what she and Jem are used to. The pastor asks for donations for Tom’s wife, and since they didn’t have enough, they closed the doors. You could really sense the tension in this scene and I really liked that, because it gave a sense of urgency that was trying to be portrayed. I also love how Scout is curious about the things going on around her, and she isn’t afraid to ask questions about the things she doesn’t understand.

  40. My favorite scene was the first day of school. Miss Caroline asks the class if anyone can read the board. Scout can. For some reason, Miss Caroline says this is bad, and that her dad teaches her wrong. This is my favorite mainly because it's something that I now think about all the time to figure out why in the world Miss Caroline would think such a thing. And I like to think about difficult things.

  41. My favorite scene was when they were standing outside of the house where the old mean guys lives. They where saying that he keeps his boy in there and he is insane. Then when they pass by the house of the old lady she starts to yell at them to get back here. But then there dad comes and talks to the lady and she can actually be pretty nice. But then they went to school and Miss. Caroline asked if anybody could read the board and Scout said yes. That is my favorite scene.

  42. My favorite scene in To Kill a Mockingbird was when Miss Maudie's house burnt down. This is my favorite scene because everyone in the neighborhood came and made sure Miss Maudie was okay. This scene is also my favorite because someone comes up behind Scout and puts a blanket on her. Later on she and Jem figure out it was Boo Radley. Once they figured that out Scout starts to freak out and it is funny.

  43. Non of the chapters were my favorite but the one chapter that caught my eye was chapter 7 when Jem wasn't talking to anybody, so scout decided to leave him alone. Then a few days later, after school has begun for the year, Jem tells Scout that he found the pants mysteriously mended and hung neatly over the fence. Then when they come home from school that day, they find another present hidden in the knothole and that present was a ball of gray twine. Scout and Jem decide to just leave it there and see if anybody takes it, but nobody did so they decided that they would take it. Then Scout get unhappy about going to the second grade, she said it was just like the first grade but she was upset because her brother Jem said that school would get better but it wasn't right now. The next day, Jem and Scout find that the knothole has been filled with cement, when Jem asks Mr. Radley why it was filled Mr. Radley said it was because the tree was dying.

  44. My favorite scene in To Kill a Mockingbird is found in chapter ten, when Atticus shoots the rabid dog. Both Jem and Scout had recently begun to realize that their father was not the typical "manly" father because he didn't hunt, fish, and is relatively older then the other children's fathers. Jem and Scout find this to be embarrassing, and Scout complains to Miss Maudie about it. However, one day a mad dog is found wondering down main street. The sheriff is called in to put the dog down, but since the dog is so far away, sheriff Tate asks Atticus if he will take the shot. Atticus does so, putting the dog down with a single shot. Miss Maudie tells Jem and Scout that their father was once known as "one-shot-Finch", and was the best shot in the county, shocking the children. Effectively proving to the children that their father is amazing after all. This scene is my absolute favorite because of how shocked the kids are, their reactions are of absolute awe were so funny to read.

  47. My favorite part in To Kill a Mockingbird Part 1 would have to be when Jem had to read to Mrs. Dubose. Jem's punishment for destroying Mrs. Dubose's flower garden was that he had to read to Mrs. Dubose for one month, Monday through Saturday for two hours. Even though Jem disliked Mrs. Dubose, he accepted his punishment and read. About a month after Jem last seen Mrs. Dubose she died, Jem was told be Atticus the night she died. Even though Jem disliked Mrs. Dubose, he was sad and hoped she died free. This shows that even if Jem disliked someone, he never truly hated them.

  48. My favorite part of scene 1 was chapter 3. I liked this chapter because at the start Scout was beating up boy. I found this part funny because you don't usually hear of girls beating up boys. I also liked this because even though Scout was mean to him earlier in the chapter, she was nice to him later in the chapter. Another thing in this chapter that I found amusing was when the tiny bug crawled out of Burris' hair. I found this funny because as soon as that happened Miss Caroline went crazy and screamed.

  49. My favorite scene of Part 1 of To Kill a Mockingbird is possibly when Scout started beating up Walter Cunningham. It was funny because Walter didn't mean to get Scout into trouble. The beginning of chapter 3 was when Scout started beating him up, but before Scout could finish her business Jem stopped her because he didn't think it was right for her to beat him up for something he didn't do. After Scout stopped beating up Walter Jem decided to ask him to go to dinner with them later that night. Walter wasn't like any of the other kids because he was talking to Atticus about farming just like two grown men would. The part of this chapter that was interesting to me was that some girls are to scared to say anything to a guy especially beat him up.

  50. My favorite part of scene one was chapter ten because Scout and Jem get to see a hidden talent of their fathers. Atticus was always seen as the older dad who couldn't play games like football as well as the other fathers. He was the dad that worked in a boring office and he had to wear glasses because he couldn't see very well, but when he was handed the gun to shoot the rabid dog the kids were very confused. Atticus said that he hadn't shot a gun in thirty years yet he still managed to kill Tim Johnson in one shot. I thought that it was humorous to see Scout and Jem so proud and shocked that their father was once called "One-shot Finch," and that he could do something much more miraculous than just being a lawyer. The kids finally had a story to use to brag about their father to the other kids at school.

  53. My favorite part in To Kill A Mockingbird was the part where Atticus had to kill the rabid dog. The sheriff was afraid they wouldn't get there in time to put it down, so they had asked Atticus if he'd do it for them. He reluctantly put down the dog, calming the chaos. Jem and Scout were surprised when they had found out about his past when they had called him 'one-shot Finch'. They didn't think their dad had it in him to do what he had done.

  54. My favorite part of the book was when Mrs. Dubose died. Mrs. Dubose said something one day and made Jem mad. He destroyed her flowers and went home. When Atticus found out he made Jem go and apologize. When jem came back he said that he had to replant the flowers and read to her for a month. So for about a month Jem and Scout when and read to her and have the rest of the day to themselves. They didn't like being that close to her because she was always having these fits and after awhile she would stop paying attention to the book. . They were kicked out when the alarm would go off. The alarm meant it was time for her medication. Each day the alarm would be set for later. So after she died Jem learned that part of why she was the way she was because of a morphine addiction. Jem learned not to judge someone by what they do and why.

  56. My favorite scene in To Kill A Mockingbird was when Scout, Jem, and Dill were trying to peek a look at Boo Radley through his window. I really enjoyed reading this chapter because I thought it was a little mysterious how there was a shadow of a man in the darkness. I think when they took off running after they saw the shadow and Jem lost his pants to the fence was funny. I was also a little bit nervous for Jem and Dill and Scout when they had to make up an excuse for why Jem didn't have pants on. 57. My favorite chapter of Part 1 was chapter 8, when Scout and Jem experienced their first snow. Scout thought the world was ending at first and Atticus had to tell her what was going on. Later they gathered enough snow and mud to make a fat snowman that looked like Mr. Avery. Later Miss Maudie's house burned down and she was still being positive because she didn't like the house anyways. While Jem and Scout were watching the firefighters put out the house fire, Arthur Radley had come outside and put a blanket on Scout, which spooked her when she found out. Then later when Jem told Miss Maudie that he and scout would help her, she said they had to clean up their own yard and Scout called the snowman a morphodite when she said they could clean it up quickly.

  58. My favorite scene in the first part of the book was when Miss Maudie's house burned down. I found it neat that the entire town came together and supported her. I also loved how Miss Maudie didn't seem to be fazed by the fact that her home of many years had been destroyed in front of her eyes. I feel if anybody else had the situation happen to them, they wouldn't be okay with just letting their house sit and burn into ashes. I believe that Miss Maudie's house fire actually brought the small town closer. You had Maycomb firemen pushing the firetruck to her house, and a fire station from 60 miles away even sent some help. I also love how Boo Radley gets mentioned since he wraps a blanket around Scout, even though he barely knows anything about her.

  60. My favorite scene from To Kill a Mockingbird part 1 was when Jem had to go to Mrs. Dubose's house and read to her. Reading to Mrs. Dubose was Jem's punishment for destroying her flower garden. Every day he and Scout would go to her house and Jem would read to her for what he thought was two hours. Jem hated going over there because Mrs. Dubose always criticized his reading and each day he had to stay longer. He also thought it was unfair that even after a month, Mrs. Dubose wanted him to stay a week longer. After Atticus told Jem that Mrs. Dubose died, Jem had hoped she died free.

  62. My favorite part in the book so far, would have to be Boo leaving the kids presents in the hole of the tree. When Scout first saw the gum she instantly put it in her mouth without thinking of all the things people said about stuff on the Radley property. As Jem found out that the gum was on the Radley property he told Scout that it could be poisoned. Later when they realized that Boo had been giving the kids all the presents, they were going to put a thank you note in the hole; but then being told by Mr. Radley that the hole had been filled in they became very disappointed. This taught the kids not to always believe everything they hear. Boo was not the "bad person" all the adults had said he was.

I especially liked the part when Atticus told Jem and Scout that they should go stand by the Radley house so they could be out of the way and when they get home Scout has a blanket wrapped over her. She didn't know it and neither did Jem but Atticus knew Boo Radley had covered her with it because he saw him. Miss Maudie was very okay with her house burning down too! I probably have complicated a simple scene but I believe a lot of foreshadowing was present within it. With his introduction I could tell right away that Jem and Scout were going to become good friends with him. I also liked how it hinted towards his background as it hinted that his dad had walked out on him and it showed that since scout didn’t pick up on this that she has not yet lost her innocence. I also found this scene humorous, as he was proud of his ability to read.

I thought there first conversation was hilarious. when Jem and Scout were in the tree house and see Dill over the fence spying on them. The first words they spoke to each other were hilarious. A repetition of saying "hey", or "hey yourself". It was funny how even though they didn't know each other, Dill's words were "I can read". When I first read this I enjoyed the imagery.
